When it comes to living with and treating dry skin, finding a good moisturizer can make all the difference. Take a quick walk down the skin care aisle (or pull up a quick Google search) and two brands have likely caught your eye: Vanicream and CeraVe. Both make a moisturizing cream that's formulated without fragrance and packaged in a blue-and-white tub. So which one is better for dry skin and are they actually all that different from each other?  To find out, I put both products to the test on my dry, eczema-prone skin. In fact, I tested them both for two weeks as both a daily moisturizer and on my moderate to severe eczema flares. Eczema on the Face and Neck: Triggers and Treatment - Everyday Health

Image
Of all the places on the body to have itchy, inflamed patches of atopic dermatitis (also called eczema), the face and neck are among the most visible — and bothersome. "It's not uncommon for people to have eczema on the face or neck, and sometimes it's a little more prevalent in certain groups," says Joy Wan, MD, a dermatologist and assistant professor of dermatology at Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore. Children are especially prone to eczema on the face and neck, often starting on the cheeks, she says. Atopic dermatitis impairs the skin's ability to serve as a barrier, making it less able to retain water. On top of that, some people with eczema may also have allergic skin reactions, known as contact dermatitis. "That can cause more of a facial or neck presentation for their eczema as well," says Dr. Wan. Here Wan outlines 10 key facts to know about eczema on the face and neck, with info on common triggers, strategies to min

"If you've got all-over little red bumps, it's going to be very different from just one or two." Plus, you have to consider the location of the bumps, as well as factors like itchiness and pain. That information can help your doctor determine the most likely cause—as well as recommend treatment (if needed). Possible Reasons for Red Bumps What can you blame for your small red bumps? Rashes around children's mouths are common. They can happen when an irritant touches the skin or through the overuse of topical products. Certain foods may also trigger eczema flare-ups. In rare cases, a food allergy causes the rash. When a rash appears around the mouth, it can be itchy or cause a burning sensation. The rash may appear red on light skin but be skin-colored on dark skin. Several substances may trigger a rash, but it is often difficult to identify the cause. Parents and caregivers can help a child avoid possible triggers, including food allergens. This article reviews the possible causes of skin rashes around the mouth and the treatment options. The American College of Allergy, Asthma, & Immunology notes that food allergies can cause skin reactions and rashes when a person comes into contact with an allergen.
